Biography

Buddy Knox first picked up a guitar at just ten years of age. His big ambition was to "play like Chuck Berry". Despite the challenge of practising on an old worn 'Toomelah mission axe', which was minus a string, Buddy's' goal to play persisted with his natural talent flourishing.

Music and playing guitar became Buddy's' life, from humble beginnings, his Mum showing him how to play his first three chords, then by teaching himself. His passion for guitar: his own natural gift, and with music an important aspect of his life, Buddy's destiny with the guitar was set.

Buddy Knox is a funky blues man... armed with his 335 Gibson, a lifetime of guitar touring experiences, and a deep passion for the blues, Buddy and his Band present their blues with great respect to the genre.

Buddy has been influenced by Freddie King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Robert Johnson, Delbert McLinton and BB King. His amazing history means he is no stranger to performing with national and international touring experiences, as lead guitarist for many artists. Buddy is loving every moment of his long-standing desire to head up his own band. His steaming line-up comprises Buddy on lead vocals/guitar, Teangi Knox (rhythm guitar), Barega Knox (Fender bass), Bareki Knox (drums) and Fiona Peters (accordion) have been touring and charming festival audiences around Australia for the past two years. The Band's stage presentation is unique. They like to "go hard" and give audiences their best. The Buddy Knox Blues Band were described as "the Diamond Band" of the 2008 inaugural Wagga Jazz n Blues Festival and the album 'Got da Blues' won the Newcastle 2008 Blues Awards album of the Year. Buddy says he "feels like a man 'bout to light a smoke at a petrol pump". He has been described as Australia's answer to BB King! So be sure to come and see Buddy... he promises a show "to smoke ya boots".
